  • beatrix 2Following a lifelong passion to enrich the lives of others, I obtained my Honours degree in Social Work at the University of Pretoria 1983. After many years of working in several organisations and children’s homes, I registered a private practice in 2001, where I work extensively with children, adults and couples in the Somerset West area.
  • I trained during 2001 with Jopie van Rooyen & Associates in the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) AND 16 PSYCHOLGICAL TYPE THEORY OF JUNG. During 2003-2004, I enrolled in a Master’s Degree in Play Therapy and obtained this qualification cum laude.
  • From 2007 till 2010 I lectured Play Therapy for Master’s Degree students at the Institute for Child, Family & Youth studies in Wellington. I left at the end of 2010 to focus full time on my private practice.
  • I find working with children immensely rewarding and strive to understand all the dimensions of the child with whom I engage through Play Therapy. Therefore, the child’s unique process, as an important variable in understanding the way in which the child presents himself during play, became a new field of interest. During 2010, I enrolled at the North-West University for my Doctoral studies. The focus of research consisted of the dynamics between parent and child and how the unique wiring of both parent and child influences their interaction. The outcome of my thesis was to develop a practice based ecometric model to assess temperament and preference functions that assist in enhancing parent-child interaction. I obtained in 2014 a Doctorate Degree in Social Work with specific focus on Child & Family Therapy.
  • Through workshops I engage and train other therapists in this working model.
  • I published an academic article: Developing a prototype ecometric temperament sorter by means of the Delphi technique, in The Social Work Practitioner- Researcher, November 2014 edition.
  • I often speak and host workshops on marriage and parenting. I also co-authored with my husband, Ewald, two non-academic books on marriage and parenting: 21 Maniere om jou Huwelik te verwoes – CUM, 2009 and Dis okei….as jou kinders verskil. Sagte-oë ouerskap – Carpe Diem Media. 2010.
  • I am the mother of two children, Ewald jr and Liani.
  • Are registered with the Board of Health Care Funders and contracted into most of the medical aids.
